Keeping Busy

During the current pandemic I have tried to keep busy by focusing on my health and my art. I am a painter which requires a lot of sitting, so I have been running to get exercise. I am up to 3.5 mile runs now. I love the feeling when I am finished with a run. The endorphins put me in a better mood than when my run started. The added bonus is losing weight and toning up!

On my runs I pass the restaurant shown in the photo in Venice, California. I like to paint things from everyday life, which is why I love urban sketching so much. I am looking forward to the day when we can once again patronize restaurants with friends. Painting this eatery reminds me that this quarantine is temporary and we have so much to look forward to in the future.

Urban Sketching

Venice Beach

During the current quarantine I have taken advantage of all the free time I have to work on some urban sketching. I have dug through some old photos or have used photos I have taken on my daily runs. I love painting the Los Angeles area and I have also done a few from my travels. I will be selling them on the Venice Beach Boardwalk when vendors are allowed back.

Being An Artist During Covid 19

I am an artist living in Southern California. I usually set up a booth on a regular basis on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. However the beach and boardwalk have been closed for several weeks. Luckily I have an online store Wendy B’s Studio which has kept my business alive during these difficult times.

I am primarily a plain Air painter, so being quarantined has its challenges. To keep busy I have scoured through old photos, taken new photos on my daily run and have tried to keep going.

My art has kept me busy while being stuck inside, it is almost like meditation. This will pass and we will return to a more normal lifestyle. I want to thank all of those who have supported my art during the pandemic, I truly feel blessed.

Keeping Upbeat in These Difficult Times

As some of you know I am an artist and have a shop on Zazzle called Wendy B’s Studio. I am lucky to be able to continue my work as we are told to stay home. I would like to share some. Uplifting work from my fellow artists on Zazzle.

My Dog is my Best Friend

If you ask most pet owners they will say their dog really is their best friend. Some even think of them as children. A woman I know lost her dog recently and she asked me to commemorate him with a sketch on a t-shirt from Wendy B’s Studio.

Venice, California

I currently set up my art stand in Venice, California on the boardwalk. What makes Venice the unique place that it is are the people. People live and visit here from all over the world, making this unique neighborhood of Los Angeles very cosmopolitan.

There is a lot to do here from skateboarding at the Venice skate park, surfing on the lovely sandy beaches, riding bicycles on the bike paths to worshiping at the Shul on the beach. Whatever your passion is, we have it here in Venice.

Most of the art work I sell at my stand is Venice or the local area related. If you happen to be in Los Angeles be sure to give Venice a visit!

Vintage Autos

Vintage Auto Tote Bag

My first car when I was in high school was a 1967 Mustang. I loved that car! Since then I have had a fondness for retro cars. They were built sturdy and their simplicity compared to the autos of today is refreshing. I decided I wanted to add some designs to the shop. I hope you like them!

Back to Nature

Table Runner

People often ask me where I get my inspiration from. This week my inspiration comes from nature. I have added several new products at my shop Wendy B’s Studio inspired by the living creatures outdoors. I have always been interested in honey bees. When I lived in Colorado, many people had hives and harvested their own honey.

Outdoor Pillow

We often find many interesting living things in our gardens. I drew this little guy because I think they are cute. When I was young I use to catch them and return them back to the wild.

Ladybug socks

Every gardener knows how important lady bugs are to their garden. They eat the nasty things that eat plants and many people buy them to put in their garden for that reason.

Have a Nice Day

One of my fondest memories from my childhood is all of the positive and inspirational messages and art from that time period. Our country was at war and we all needed a some positive vibes. When I created this pillow on Wendy B’s Studio I had those positive vibes in mind. I hope you will have a look in the shop!
